As part of its efforts to advertise Sarawak culture, the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak is contemplating the idea of organising a “Tuak Festival.” The event, which can initially be held in Kuching, aims to showcase and promote tuak, a conventional rice wine of the Dayaks, and the culture of the state.
Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting expressed his enthusiasm for the festival, suggesting it might run for over every week and finally include a tuak-making competition in every zone of Sarawak, masking the southern, northern, and central regions. Ting acknowledged that beginning such an event would be difficult but remained optimistic about its success and sustainability, given the number of skilled tuak producers in Sarawak.
“The people who produce tuak are very experienced, and they want to have the ability to organise a week-long festival,” stated Ting. “ Zany will certainly contemplate starting off a Tuak Festival. I believe folks coming to Sarawak want to additionally drink tuak. Now, tuak could be very in style in Peninsular Malaysia, from what I gathered.”
